Dulles Airport Navigation Design

The challenge in designing the new animated displays for the Dulles Airport transit system was all about keeping the international passenger in mind. The old, stagnant signs were unattractive and didn’t relay information well. Passengers would exit the brand-new terminal trains into the sparkling modern platforms, and not even pay attention to the LED signs.

While touring the facilities, several international passengers asked us how to find certain platforms or transportation. It never occurred to them to check the signage right above their heads. The call was simple: make the signs attractive while informative. There is nothing worse than traveling abroad in a strange airport and not knowing where to go, while you’re afraid of missing your flight or ride. These signs are meant to take that worry away.

The design concept is a simple, friendly, eye-popping visual. I created animated icons with pleasant colors that accent the modern terminals. These icons show people who speak any language that “This is the direction for gates”, or “This is where I go to get a taxi.” Examples of the signs are below.

Promotional Flier Design for Paul Rabil Lacrosse

The Annapolis Design Company designs promotional flier for Paul Rabil, one of the world’s most electric lacrosse stars. Rabil, sponsored by Under Armour, Red Bull, and Maverick Lacrosse, wanted a “Team USA” look to this piece. The print design is for a clinic that gives youngsters in San Diego an opportunity to learn from the biggest young star of lacrosse.
